Srinagar, June 07: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday summoned a top Islamic scholar, Maulana Rehmatullah Mir Qasmi, for questioning in connection with an ongoing investigation into the funding activities of the Al Huda Education Trust (AHET) in Rajouri.
Qasmi, according to NIA officials, appeared at their camp office in Srinagar on Wednesday as part of the agency's ongoing investigation into the alleged financial transactions and activities of the AHET, Rajouri.
Al Huda Education Trust, based in Rajouri, has come under scrutiny for its alleged involvement in certain financial activities that have alarmed security agencies.
The NIA investigation focuses on the nature and scope of the activities. In a related case, the NIA arrested Mohammad Ameer Shamshi, the chairperson of Al Huda Educational Trust (AHET) in Rajouri, in October last year in an alleged terror funding case. Shamsi was apprehended during raids in 18 districts across J&K, including Rajouri, Poonch, Jammu, Srinagar, Bandipora, Shopian, Pulwama, and Budgam.
