Covid19: Challenge of 21st Century

China has committed crimes against humanity and even US President Trump has castigated it for deceiving the world about the deadly virus

The inevitable has finally happened with all of us. Whenever humans tried to become gods, disasters engulfed the humanity, and it has happened a number of times in the world history during the last thousands of years.

The great plague of London in 1720, the Cholera epidemic of 1820 or the Spanish flu of 1919, were all the natural disasters. But this time, it is the human hand, immoral judgement and race for supremacy primarily responsible for the global disaster around all of us.

It is alleged that the famous but notorious Wuhan labs in China made attempts to mutate the gene of snake and bat, the virus active hitherto in animals transformed its format and travelled to human beings.

Since its new format is comfortably human body accommodative, therefore the immediate threat remains that it has virtually no vaccine that can contain it pre hand. We can have it in future. The human beings have virtually been made subservient to the deadly virus generally called as Cornavirus and now designated as COVID19 in the new format.

Coronavirus is an RNA virus like that of HIV aids, a novel virus, means it is only transferred from animal to animal. But in Wuhan something happened in its genetics. Ribonucleic acid (RNA) is used in key metabolic processes for all steps of protein synthesis in all living cells and carries the genetic information of many viruses.

Unlike double-stranded DNA, RNA consists of a single strand of nucleotides, and it occurs in a variety of lengths and shapes. RNA sequencing happened in this case meaning it mutated and jumped from animals to humans otherwise novel viruses stay only in animals.

After 2 weeks, initially, in December 2019, it mutated again and then it spread like a fire and began to eat lungs and respiratory system of the residents of Wuhan, as our immune system cannot recognize mutated versions of viruses, so it can't kill them. It is also believed that right now it is mutating and thus the virus keeps changing its structure.

There is no doubt that China made follies after follies. First of all, it didn't take the world into confidence about its failures and kept in hiding the magnitude of the spread of virus. It had complete knowledge of its own failures and the resultant effect keeping in view what was going on in China and specifically in Wuhan right from November last to February this year.

The first case of Cornavirus came to limelight on 17 November 2019 in China and the government of China announced it only on 31 December 2019. During this initial period, millions of Chinese travelled to and fro all continents in the world and especially those countries with which it has special relationship.

Thus China has committed crimes against humanity and even US President Trump has castigated it for deceiving the world about the deadly virus.

The total number of confirmed active cases in the world today are around two hundred seventy thousand while the figure of deaths has reached eleven thousand. The pandemic has engulfed virtually the whole world, courtesy, China. Europe has around one lakh cases while China, Japan and Korea put together have also crossed one lakh such cases.

Iran has a bad situation and has also been responsible for spread of virus among the Asian countries. The "conservative" reporting of officially confirmed cases across the globe suggests that China has more than 80,000 cases while Italy has around 42,000 cases. Iran has almost 20,000, Spain 18,000, USA 15,000, Germany 15,000, France 11,000, Korea 9,000 and UK 4,000 such cases.

India with its vulnerable neighbourhood, vast population, international connections and exposure to pilgrimages in Saudi Arabia and Iran could have not remained isolated amidst the global disaster sweeping the world over the last three months. The first case of Caronavirus in India was declared on 31 January 2020.

Keeping in view the Indian conditions and the latest government of India status report, it can be said that India has done well over the last two months. There are official figures available which confirm four deaths and around 300 active cases.

Technically speaking, India has covered phase I and phase II of the Virus spread. But the actual test starts now when it has to be curtailed there where it is, though the virus has entered in its deadly multiplication mode. It is here that India and Indians need to learn lessons from the grave mistakes and blunders the world committed over the last three months of the endemic and pandemic both.

The virus is viable in air for only three hours and it travels into human body only when it has a human touch. It cannot live outside the human body ordinarily for more than twelve hours while it is allergic to copper and dies in a maximum of four hours on copper surfaces. It remains alive on steel, metallic, cardboard, paper, cloth and other such surfaces for a period of twelve hours to 24 hours, ordinarily.

The trick is that the virus is to be left alone where it is, without giving it any human support directly or indirectly. It will die it's own natural death after twelve hours.

In the modern world, though we cannot dream of isolating ourselves but here is a case for 'isolating' the virus. This is possible only when the virus is "left alone and orphan" for 12 to 36 hours necessitating social distancing or isolation for the human beings.

Here comes the idea of playing a trick with the virus. Personal hygiene is a voluntary doctrine and use of sanitizer, masks and other such things are preventive measures only. Our specific target needs to be the death of the deadly virus and blocking it from entering our borders.

Therefore, the governments come into the picture primarily to enforce the scheme of social distancing by applying lock downs, blockades, shutdowns, curfews and other such strict measures. The general public needs to understand the trick and the measures both, so the political and community leaders are expected to play the role in a subtle way. The lead taken by the PM Modi in this connection is heroic, historic and visionary.

Had the other world opinion makers, thinkers, political leaders and scientists thought of social distancing as an effective measure, the virus spread could have not created the pandemic though it would have been an endemic to be tackled exclusively. But this will be the initial measure to be repeated many a time.

Ban on landing of international flights is a well thought out plan before 22 March curfew experiment in India. This experiment of curfew can be the beginning of a new world order to tackle the virus till a vaccine is developed by the scientists and doctors with the support of WHO.

The whole world is currently looking up to this experiment of JantaCurfew in India and the people in India are supposed to respond to this acute global medical emergency positively and strictly.

In case the people of India succeed in their attempt to defeat the deadly virus or curtail it to a large extent, it would be a great contribution to the human history and civilisation. So, please stay at home for some time, the virus will not come to you on it's own.

Yes, the test is not easy, but if it is the only test, it has to be made the easiest one. With due reverence and regard to the warriors on duty in this collective fight of humanity (against the virus) working in hospitals, police, security, municipalities and emergency services, the 5 PM applause on 22nd March 2020 for five minutes carries a moral message.

The other connecting message is simple and straightforward, We can overcome and we will win together surely and honestly as the saviours of humanity.
