Bla's Old Town gets long-awaited fire station

Baramulla, Jan 28: The Old Town area of Baramulla has received its long-awaited fire station as the Municipal Council Baramulla assigned a space for two fire tenders in the heart of the Old Town.
The initiative by MC Baramulla will bring much-needed relief to residents who have been calling for this development for years.
Residents of the Old Town, which is a densely populated area, have been hit hard by fire incidents in the past and have often struggled to get prompt assistance from fire and emergency services.
The residents while hailing the move said that the new fire station, which will be equipped with one or two fire tenders will make it easier for rescue teams of the Fire and Emergency Service department to reach the affected areas in a timely manner.
Municipal Council Baramulla President Touseef Raina who took the initiative and assigned the space said that the new fire station will help to improve the response time of the Fire and Emergency Service department.
"Reaching out to such locations on time during calamities has been a strenuous job for rescue operators from fire and emergency department and this new station will make it easy for them to reach on time," Raina said.
The MC Baramulla President also praised the work of the firefighters of the Fire and Emergency Service department, who have done a commendable job in the past.
He said that the new fire station will mainly function as the first respondent to rescue calls.
The residents said that they are relieved that they now have a dedicated facility in their neighbourhood to respond to emergency situations.
"This is a major development for the area, and it is expected to improve the safety and well-being of the residents of Old Town Baramulla," a local Mohammad Akbar said.
The move has been hailed by the locals and praised as a step in the right direction for the safety and security of the area.
It is pertinent to mention here that the old town area of Baramulla is a densely populated locality comprising of 3460 households.
