Jammu, Dec 02: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday called for easing hardships being faced by beneficiaries in applying for Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS) and urged the administration to clear pendencies.

AAP state spokesperson and senior leader TS Tony called for aggressive clearance of pendency in different departments where ISSS beneficiaries have submitted forms for necessary formalities.

Tony hit hard at Jammu and Kashmir government for rolling out ISSS “without ground work putting old-aged, widows, transgenders and specially-abled people in a situation of distress as they have to run from pillar to post to get forms completed with necessary formalities.”

" ISSS has been rolled out without any ground work and now the Jammu and Kashmir government has put poor people in distress after doing the same with government employees and common masses who have been cornered due to anti-people policies and dictatorial attitude of the administration,” he claimed.

He further mentioned that there are a bunch of formalities that one beneficiary has to collect before submission of application for benefit under ISSS.

“Beneficiaries of the scheme are poor people and the government should have put in place proper mechanism before this scheme and especially field machinery should have been tasked to clear the applications for formalities in a time bound manner so that poor do not suffer," the Aam Aadmi Party leader said.

While welcoming the decision to include affidavit by executive magistrate alongwith judicial magistrate affidavit, Tony said that there is need to gear up the machinery of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) department as well as of Revenue department where people are applying for issuance of new ration cards under PHH category and domiciles respectively.

“This is the most genuine aspect as it is connected with poor people as well as specially-abled ones. Government should ensure that necessary directions are issued to the revenue department across Jammu and Kashmir so that the applications for issue of domicile certificates are cleared in the shortest possible time,” he said.
He said similar directions should also be issued to FCS&CA for issuing updated ration card with PHH, AAY marking as it is an important formality for beneficiaries.

“Government should hold special camps to clear the pendency besides boosting the performance of district medical boards of health departments where people apply for issuance of medical certificates,” he added.
