Infection count crosses 26,000 mark
Eight more persons died of COVID-19 in Kashmir during the past 24 hours taking the number of casualties in J&K to 498 while 482 cases were reported on Wednesday, officials said.
As per the government, the fresh casualties include three from Srinagar, two each from Baramulla and Kupwara and one from Ganderbal.
With the fresh casualties, the death toll due to the novel coronavirus has soared to 498 in J&K, which includes 461 from Kashmir and 37 from Jammu.
So far, Srinagar has reported 160 deaths, Baramulla 85, Budgam 36, Anantnag 35,
Pulwama 32, Kulgam 31, Kupwara 30, Shopian 24, Bandipora 18, and Ganderbal 10.
In Jammu division, Jammu district has reported 26 deaths, Rajouri three, Doda and Udhampur two each, and Ramban, Kathua, Samba and Poonch one each.
J&K reported 482 fresh coronavirus cases on Wednesday which include 376 from Kashmir and 106 from Jammu, pushing the total infection tally to 26,413.
Today’s cases include 88 from Srinagar, 53 from Anantnag, Pulwama 52, Kupwara and Jammu 42 each, Ganderbal 39, Bandipora and Budgam 29 each, Baramulla 26, Kulgam 17, Poonch 16, Kathua 14, Doda and Reasi seven each, Ramban and Kishtwar five each, Rajouri and Samba four each and Udhampur two.
The government said of the total 7,50,847 test results available, 7,24,434 returned negative and 26,413 positive which include 7398 active positive cases while 18,523 have recovered and been discharged including 544 persons discharged during the past 24 hours.
It said, so far, 4,02,509 persons had been put under observation including 42,494 in home quarantine and 7392 in isolation while 48,726 people are under home surveillance and 3,03,399 persons have completed their surveillance period.
In Kashmir, Srinagar has a total of 6435 cases followed by Baramulla with 2257, Pulwama 1949, Anantnag 1665, Kulgam 1659, Budgam 1641, Shopian 1537, Kupwara 1348, Bandipora 1197, and Ganderbal 773.
In Jammu division, Jammu district has 1727 cases, Rajouri 771, Udhampur 633, Ramban 616, Kathua 626, Samba 533, Doda 324, Poonch 305, Reasi 242, and Kishtwar 175.
