Avail industrial benefits for hospitality sector: Dir I&C to Hoteliers

Directorate of Industries & Commerce through District Industries Centre (DIC), Srinagar Saturday conducted an interactive workshop on extension of incentives under Industrial Development Scheme to the hospitality sector of the valley.

Director Industries & Commerce Mahmood Ahmad Shah chaired the meeting which was also attended by General Manager DIC Srinagar Syed Sajad Qadiri, employees of DICs, members of Kashmir Hotel and Restaurant Owners Federation (KHAROF) and eminent hoteliers of the valley. 

On the occasion, Qadiri talked extensively about various incentives which can be availed under IDS and the benefits which can further be extended to the hospitality sector under the industrial policy in vogue.

He also promised the participants for complete facilitation and handholding regarding registration of hotels and guest houses at DIC level.

Mahmood Shah emphasized upon the scope of the schemes that would benefit the sector and urged the members of hospitality sector to embrace the benefits available to this sector through industries department.

He promised to extend full cooperation of the department in removing the bottlenecks regarding implementation and execution of Industrial Development Scheme to the hospitality sector.

He also informed the participants that steps will be taken to extend the benefits of IDS regarding GST reimbursement to the service sector.

“We will also take up the matter with concerned quarters for notifying tourist destinations as industrial areas so that the cluster of hotels and guest houses can avail benefits of common facility centres.”

The members of KHAROF requested Director I&C to take up the issue with power development department for converting their power agreements from commercial to industrial and full assistance was promised in this regard. 

Participants hailed the efforts put in by the department of Industries and Commerce regarding the welfare of the hospitality sector.
