Kashmir on Monday observed complete shutdown against the killing of civilians in south Kashmir while authorities imposed restrictions in parts of Srinagar to foil protests.
Shops, business establishments, petrol pumps and educational institutions remained closed in Srinagar and other parts of the Valley. The attendance in government offices and banks remained affected while public transport was off the roads.
The shutdown was called by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) against the unabated civilian killings in south Kashmir.
In view of the shutdown called by JRL, authorities imposed restrictions in parts of downtown and Maisuma to maintain law and order and foil protests.
The restrictions were imposed in Kulgam town of south Kashmir to prevent people from staging protests against the killings.
A civilian was killed in forces firing on protestors near an encounter site at Qaimoh area of Kulgam yesterday.
A youth, who had sustained critical bullet injuries in forces firing at Srigufwara, also succumbed to injuries yesterday.
