Wular XI defeated Zabrwan Rangers by two wickets to reach the final of Kashmir Qatar Cricket League (KQCL) Season 1 in a closely fought battle as emotions ran high in the clash match of arch rivals at at Al-Khor Cricket stadium.
Irfan Iqbal captain of Wular XI won the toss and chose to field first. His decision proved right by his bowlers who bowled out Rangers for only paltry 125 runs in 19.3 overs.
Irfan Eldar was the highest runs scorer with 35 runs while rest of the batsman failed at the big stage and crumbled to the intense pressure of the big match.
Azhar was the best bowler of the match as he took 3 crucial wickets for only 15 runs in his 4 overs. he was ably supported by Deepak who also took 3 in his quota of 4 overs.
In reply, Asif Firdousi who was riding high on his luck was dropped on the score of 2 and 23. He capitalized on the chances and scoring 45 crucial runs. As Wular XI were cruising to victory at one stage with 102 for 3 in just 9.4 overs, some inspirational spell of fast bowling by Sami Ullah and Mudasir Rashid brought them back to the game. Wular lost 6 wickets for just 20 runs however due the less runs to chase, Wular were able to reach finals in the battle of nerves as they were challenged by the comeback of the bowlers of Rangers who nearly won the match.
Sami Ullah took 3 wickets for just 16 runs in his 3 overs and Mudasir Rashid returned with an impressive figures of 2 for 3 in his one over.
Azhar was declared man of the match for his fantastic spell of bowling.
