Srinagar, Sep 21: The district administration Ramban on Thursday ordered closure of schools in the Rajgarh cluster for the third consecutive day (Friday) after bear attacks were reported in the area.
Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mussarat Islam told Rising Kashmir that due to the bear attacks in Kumate and Rajgarh areas, the class work was suspended in 19 schools of the cluster for Wednesday and Thursday. The schools will continue to remain shut tomorrow (Friday), he added.
“The wildlife teams have also visited the spot. The decision to close schools for two days was taken for the safety of the people as well as students,” he said.
The DC said people must follow the advisory of the wildlife department which has been already issued. “They should not visit the forest areas alone and must carry lights during night hours for their safety,” he said.
