Budgam, Mar 15: The wildlife department in Budgam district has asked the general public, urging them to strictly adhere to the wildlife advisory on a daily basis. This comes after a tragic incident where a ten-year-old girl was fatally attacked by a leopard in the Samsan area of Khansahib tehsil.
According to Bashir Ahmad Bhat, block officer of Wildlife Control Budgam, the wildlife department has been conducting continuous search operations in the village where the minor girl was killed by the leopard few days ago.
Bhat emphasized the importance of following the advisory issued by the wildlife department, which has been shared with the public on multiple occasions.
"Incase any wildlife animals is sighting anywhere in the Budgam district, the people should immediately contact the wildlife department. This will enable us to capture these wild animals without any harm to human life," he said.
It is distressing to note that this incident marks the third occurrence of leopard attacks in Budgam district since the year 2021.
In the month of June 2021, a 4-year-old girl was mauled to death by a leopard from near her home in Housing Colony Ompora in Budgam district.
However, in the month of September 2021, a ten-year-old boy from Haran village of Soibugh in Budgam district was also mauled to death by a leopard near his house.
