Budgam, Oct 05: The Deputy Commissioner Budgam Akshay Labroo initiated the upgradation and renovation work of sports stadium Budgam on Thursday.

While highlighting the beautification of the whole Budgam town and various other projects that were earlier inaugurated by the LG Manoj Sinha, DC Budgam said that the facility would witness great sports enthusiasm where young sportspersons and school students would get an opportunity to polish their skills and showcase their talent.

"The upgrade of the infrastructure at Sports Stadium Budgam will foster a productive environment for the people of Budgam to participate in various sports activities," Labroo said. 

DC Budgam said that the project aims to revitalise the stadium, creating a hub for sporting excellence and community engagement.

"The first phase of this upgrade plan shall include the laying of path tiles, modernising facilities such as the cricket practice net, upgrading seating arrangements, renovating walls, and installing a 45 kVA generator," Labroo said.

DC further said that the refurbished sports stadium will serve as a catalyst for local talent to flourish on a regional and national platform.

"The repair and renovation project reflects the LG administration's commitment to holistic development, emphasising the role of sports in shaping a vibrant and strong community," DC said. 

The students from the various schools, the district youth and sports officer, the district information officer Budgam, the AEE R&B Budgam, and other officers and officials of various departments were present on this occasion.
