Srinagar, Sept 25: State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has asked the Chief Education Officers, Principal DIETS, and Heads of Institutions to ensure the implementation and documentation of children's progress using the designated ‘Holistic Progress Card’ in all government and government-recognized private schools at the foundational stage and preparatory Level.

As per the official notification issued by the Director JKSCERT, it reads that National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 aims to revitalize the Indian education system by focusing on the overall development of learners.

"It emphasizes the need to nurture the unique capabilities of each child and promote a multidisciplinary approach to education. The policy advocates for the integration of vocational skills, critical thinking, and creativity into the curriculum," Notification reads

It said that the Holistic Progress Card (HPC), as envisioned in NEP 2020, is a revolutionary tool that has the potential to bring about paradigm shift in the very nature of pedagogy, teaching and learning process, assessment practices and teacher training. It serves as a tool to bridge the gap between traditional assessment methods and the evolving needs of education.

"The Holistic Progress Card (HPC) developed by NCERT has been adopted by this Council. Holistic Progress Card (HPC) encompasses not only the academic achievements of a student but also captures his or her socio-emotional growth, creativity, and vocational proficiency," notification said.

It further said that the progress card proposes the use of integrative pedagogy in order to track the students' performance. It distils the various academic domains, associated goals and competencies thereof in the form of academic activities and use these activities to track progress.

"It is enjoined upon all the Chief Education Officers, Principal DIETS, Head of the Institutions to ensure the implementation and recording child progress on designed Holistic Progress Card in all Government and Government recognised Private Schools at Foundational Stage and Preparatory Stage. The said document is available on the Official website of SCERT," Director JKSCERT said.
