EVM randomization completes for second phase of J&K LS polls

Jammu, Mar 31: The Election Department of Jammu and Kashmir has completed the process of randomization of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for the second phase of 2024 LokSabha elections to be held in the Union Territory of J&K.
The Parliamentary elections in J&K UT for all five (5) LokSabha seats would be held in five phases. Each phase will cover one seat each.
“The randomization of all the EVMs for second phase of 2024 Parliamentary elections in J&K has been done,” senior officer of J&K Election Department, Rameshwar Kumar, informed Rising Kashmir.
To ensure utmost transparency, the randomization of EVMs is done in 2 rounds. The randomization of EVMs for the first round has been completed for the second phase of LokSabha elections in J&K. The randomization for the second round will be done before dispatching the EVMs to different polling stations.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has already provided the required number of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to all the 20 districts of the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) for the ensuing 2024 LokSabha elections.
At Jammu, the EVMs have been stored/kept at Government Polytechnic College at BikramChowk and the security forces have been on high alert in and around the Polytechnic College.
The EVMs stored/kept in the strong rooms of each district of J&K will be dispatched to each polling booth under tight security in GPS equipped vehicles for LokSabha elections.
The elections for 5 LokSabha seats of J&K will start from April 19th. On April 19th, election will be held for Kathua-UdhampurLokSabha seat, on April 26th, election will be held for Jammu-Reasi seat, on May 7th, election will be held for newly created Rajouri-AnantnagLokSabha seat, on May 13, election will be held for Srinagar seat, and on May 26th, the election will be held for BaramullaLokSabha seat of Kashmir region.
 The officials, who will be part of the flying squad, the Returning Officers (ROs), the Assistant Returning Officers (AROs), the Nodal Officers and others have also been imparted training by the ECI for the 2024 LokSabha polls.
