Srinagar, Nov 03: The Department of Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs has initiated the E-KYC process to include the left-out beneficiaries into the ration card system, based on the 2011 census data. This data, as per officials, will be validated using the Aadhar card information.
An official from the food supplies department told Rising Kashmir that the e-KYC process has already commenced in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
“All the beneficiaries who were previously excluded will now be added to the ration cards in Jammu and Kashmir as per the census 2011. Through the E-KYC process, the details of these beneficiaries will be validated using their Aadhar card information," he said, adding that many beneficiaries have already updated their Aadhar cards periodically.
Currently, Jammu and Kashmir has 66 lakh beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act (NFSA).
The official further said that the deceased beneficiaries will be removed from the ration cards, which will ensure accurate and up-to-date information about the beneficiaries based on their Aadhar card details.
