Gulmarg receives first snowfall of season
Mainly dry, clear weather till Oct 6: MeT

Srinagar, Oct 02: The higher reaches of Gulmarg in north Kashmir's Baramulla district received the season’s first snowfall on Sunday night, while the Meteorological Department is expecting dry and clear weather to continue till October 6th.
Deputy Director Indian Meteorological Centre Kashmir, Mukhtar Ahmad told Rising Kashmir that upper reaches of Gulmarg including the Afarwat mountain range received light snowfall and rainfall till Sunday morning.
“It was the season’s first snowfall in the Gulmarg range. Last week, higher reaches of Sonamarg also received light snowfall," he said.
Mukhtar said in the coming days, there will be a slight decrease in day temperatures in the Valley and evenings will be colder.
“We are expecting a light spell of rain from October 6th onward at isolated places in Kashmir. However, this spell will not have any larger impact,” he said.
On Sunday, Srinagar recorded 24.4 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature at 11.8 degrees Celsius.
Ski-resort Gulmarg in Baramulla district recorded 14.5 degrees Celsius maximum temperature while the minimum temperature was recorded at 2.7 degrees.
Health resort Pahalgam recorded 20.3°C, and Qazigund 23.6°C respectively.
Kupwara in north Kashmir was the hottest place in Kashmir recording maximum temperatures of 26.2 °C, while minimum temperatures settled at 11.2 °C respectively.
Drass town in Ladakh region had 6.6, Kargil 9 and Leh 3.6 as the minimum temperature.
Jammu had 20, Katra 17.6, Batote 12.5, Banihal 10, and Bhaderwah 11.7 as the minimum temperature.
