Srinagar, Dec 24: The Directorate of Tourism Kashmir orchestrated a joyous event at the historic Saint Mary’s Church in Gulmarg, marking the commencement of the festive season.

The Christian community, led by Father Eric and Father Venoo, congregated at the church for a prayer ceremony, invoking blessings for the well-being of the valley's inhabitants and a tranquil year ahead.

A tourism official at Gulmarg told Rising Kashmir, expressed pride in hosting such an event in Gulmarg, highlighting their commitment to fostering inclusivity and celebrating the diversity of the valley.

Preparations for New Year celebrations are also underway, with major tourist destinations like Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Sonamarg witnessing a surge in bookings. Highlighting the significance of the occasion, the official stated that members of the Christian community, alongside other visitors, gathered at the church to offer prayers in accordance with their religious traditions.

Following the prayers, a jubilant atmosphere prevailed as the community engaged in a ceremonial cake cutting within the church premises.
