'Khilta Badalta J&K’: LG inaugurates photo exhibition showcasing UT's developmental journey

Visits Handicraft & Handloom Exhibition at Kashmir Haat

Srinagar, Oct 31:  To commemorate the foundation day of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated a two-day photo exhibition at the city center, Lal Chowk, near the iconic Clock Tower, Ghanta Ghar. 
The event was organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations under the theme "Khilta Badalta Jammu and Kashmir."
The exhibition also emphasizes the remarkable growth in the tourism sector and the significant development in the construction of tunnels, roads, and highways in the region. Over the past four years, the Union Territory has seen a surge in agricultural development and worldwide recognition for Kashmiri art and craft through increased tourism.
The exhibition received an overwhelming response from the visitors after it was thrown open by LG Sinha.
The event was graced by the presence of Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir; Minga Sherpa, Director Information Department Ms. Mandeep Kaur, Commissioner/Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj. Junaid Azim Mattu, Mayor Srinagar Municipal Corporation; Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, CEO, Mission Youth, HoDs and senior officers were also present during the occasion.The occasion was followed by a grand musical event which saw participation of a huge number of visitors.
Lt Governor also attended an open painting competition which was held under the theme of "Corruption free and Poverty free future", Ideals of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat at Zero Bridge Rajbagh Srinagar.
Meanwhile , LG Manoj Sinha visited the Handicraft and Handloom Exhibition at Kashmir Haat on Tuesday. The exhibition highlighted the intricate art and craft products made by artisans and entrepreneurs.
Commending the creativity , dedication and unparalleled craftsmanship of the craftspeople, LG Sinha appreciated their innovation and ingenuity. He applauded their dedicated services in preserving and promoting Jammu and Kashmir's treasured artistic heritage.
LG Sinha took an on-spot stock of the stalls put up by the artisans and women entrepreneurs of Self-Help Groups. The stalls showcased diverse products crafted with creativity and commitment by the valley artisans.
On the occasion, Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department; Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and senior officers were also present.
