Jammu, Feb 26: Ranbir Singh Pathania, BJP Spokesperson, on Monday made a clarion call for making ‘Matrishakti’ Atmanirbhar.
“By providing opportunities for income generation and entrepreneurship, we need to improve the economic and social status of women. The focus on building women's leadership capacities has contributed to their increased participation in local governance structures, thus amplifying their voices in decision-making processes,” he said in a statement issued here.
Pathania, according to the statement, was dedicating to the public a ‘Cutting and Tailoring Centre’ under Operation Sadbhavana at Dehari village of Ramnagar. He congratulated local people and thanked the Indian Army for selecting the spot for this noble initiative. “This project will lead our women towards 'Atmanirbharta'. The number of SHGs has been constituted in the villages of Ramnagar through the National Rural Livelihood Mission,” he said.
Empowering women in Jammu and Kashmir through cutting and tailoring centres through Operation Sadbhavna, is an initiative by the Indian Army, actively involved in promoting socio-economic development and fostering a sense of inclusivity in the region of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). “Skill Development, Economic Empowerment,  Entrepreneurship Promotion, Social Empowerment, Community Development are the very hallmarks of Operation Sadbhavna with a focus on empowering women through cutting and tailoring centres in Jammu and Kashmir which exemplifies a holistic approach to socio-economic development. By equipping women with practical skills, fostering entrepreneurship, and promoting social inclusion, this initiative not only empowers individual women but also contributes to the overall prosperity and stability of the region,” he said.
Elaborating on the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), the BJP spokesperson said it has played a pivotal role in empowering women by fostering self-reliance ('Aatma Nirbharta'). Through various initiatives such as skill development programs, access to microfinance, and capacity-building training, NRLM has enabled women to actively participate in economic activities and decision-making processes within their communities, he said, adding that in J&K, NRLM has tailored its interventions to address the unique socio-economic challenges faced by women, particularly in conflict-affected areas.
Ashish Kanwar, Capt Indian Army, informed about the various initiatives being taken up under Operation Sadhbhavna by the Indian Army in the area. Former Sarpanch Swaran Singh expressed his gratitude towards the initiative. Representatives of lead departments as well as respectable people of the area remained present.
