The Municipal Committee Bijbehara (MCB) on Saturday removed banners, billboards, and hoardings installed without authorization by private parties in the town.

The billboards and signboards of various parties, as well as advertisements for coaching centres pasted on buildings and iron poles, deface the town's attractiveness.

According to an official, the hoardings deface the beauty of the town and were installed without prior approval from the MCB.

Suhail Ahmad Malik, Executive Officer of MCB, told Rising Kashmir that defacing public or municipal property is an offense and a violation of Section 183 of the Municipal Act.

“We recommend that all shopkeepers and individuals obtain written authorization from the Municipality before installing any banner or hoarding,” he said, adding that otherwise, they will be penalised and fined.

If anyone requires clarification, they could contact our Municipal Committee Bijbehara office, he added.
