JAMMU, MAR31: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has introduced an online application, 'cVIGIL,' enabling citizens to report Model Code of Conduct (MCC) violations swiftly during election periods.
The 'cVIGIL' app, symbolizing vigilant citizens, empowers individuals to proactively contribute to ensuring free and fair elections. This innovative platform allows users to report MCC violations in real-time, eliminating the need to physically visit the Returning Officer's office in their respective assembly constituencies.
Upon reporting an MCC violation via 'cVIGIL,' the complaint is promptly forwarded to a flying squad for investigation. Each registered complaint receives a unique ID number, enabling citizens to track its status. However, anonymous complaints do not receive tracking identification numbers.
It's important to note that 'cVIGIL' is dedicated solely to reporting MCC violations. Citizens can utilize other platforms available through the ECI Citizen Services mobile app/website for different complaints.
For additional details, citizens are encouraged to visit the official website of the Election Commission of India: https://www.eci.gov.in/. The 'cVIGIL' application is accessible on both Android and IOS devices.
