Minor boy injured after being attacked by leopard in Budgam village

Budgam, March 18: A 9-year-old boy was injured after being attacked by a leopard in the Samsan area of Khansahib in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday evening.

An police official told the Rising Kashmir that a minor from the Samsan village received minor injuries after being attacked by the leopard

"Soon after the incident, he was shifted to the hospital for treatment; the condition of the boy is stable," an official said.

He said that since March 11 2024, the wildlife department has established camp in the Samsan village to capture this leopard alive.

He identified the injured minor boy as Saqib Javid Son of Javid Ahmad Dar Resident of Samsan village of Khansahib tehsil

Earlier, on March 11 this month,
A ten-year-old girl was mauled to death by a leopard in the Samsan area of Khansahib tehsil in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday evening.

In the month of June 2021, a 4-year-old girl was mauled to death by a leopard from near her home in Housing Colony Ompora in Budgam district.

However, in the month of September 2021, a ten-year-old boy from Haran village of Soibugh in Budgam district was also mauled to death by a leopard near his house.
