Anantnag, Mar 31: A single-storey residential house was on Sunday damaged in a fire incident in the Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
According to a Fire & Emergency Services official, the house belonging to Abdul Kareem Kholi, son of Habibulllah Kholi, a resident of Chukara Desse (Larnoo), was gutted overnight.
The official said they received information about the fire at 23:28 hours, following which fire service tenders from Larnoo were immediately dispatched to the spot to extinguish the flames.
Preliminary assessments suggest that the cause of the fire was a short circuit, he said, adding, "Fortunately, there were no reports of loss of life or injuries in the incident. However, significant damage has been caused to the roofing, ceiling, doors, windows and household goods."
Meanwhile, the tehsil administration in Larnoo has extended its sympathies to the affected family and provided immediate relief in accordance with established norms.
Syed Muiz Qadri, Tehsildar Larnoo, said, “Blankets, utensils and other relief materials were distributed to the victims of the fire as immediate relief. Further processing for additional relief measures will be undertaken as per guidelines."
