Kulgam, Oct 12: The Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board Dr Darakhshan Andrabi on Thursday said the board is aiming to make Sheikh Ul Alam’s birthplace in Kulgam shine like Charar-e-Sharief shrine. She said this while on her visit to Zirayat Sharif at Qaimoh.
Dr Andrabi took stock of the annual Urs agreements and discussed shrine developments with local representatives and District Administration Kulgam.
“These sites, where Sufi saints once walked, hold immense cultural and spiritual value. We are entrusted with the blessings and ideals of these saints, and it is our duty to safeguard them for generations to come,” she said.
She said, we acknowledge the tireless efforts of the District Commissioner and the Senior Superintendent of Police in maintaining peace and harmony. We know people here have the longstanding aspirations to see the Dargah elevated to greater prominence and historical significance.
“We are planning to refurbish the revered Roza Sharif, including the installation of a protective roof, Tomb and the replacement of the matting within the Shrine. Additionally, public conveniences for both male and female devotees will be constructed, ensuring a more comfortable and inclusive environment,” she said.
Addressing concerns regarding Masjid Sharif, the Chairperson advocated for open dialogue and resolution of internal issues within the community. She emphasized the sanctity of mosques as places of peace and spiritual solace, urging against their misuse or politicization.
“We aim to ensure that these religious spaces remain dedicated solely to worship and spiritual enlightenment, where the echoes of development, peace, and prosperity resound,” the Chairperson added.
Chairperson was accompanied by DC, SSP Kulgam and officers of other departments including Waqf Board.
