Srinagar, 20 Oct: The three-day workshop on ‘Publication Design and Typography', at the Institute of Music and Fine Arts (IMFA) concluded here at Kashmir University on Thursday.
A brief video film that summarized the entire three-day seminar/workshop programme was shown at the culmination event.
The movie was created by second-year Applied Art Department student Ghulmullah, who also featured actor Rajan Kumar's portrayal of Charlie Chaplin, who is listed in both the Limca and Guinness books of records.
The film presentation on the three-day programme was well-received by invited guests and workshop participants.
During the closing ceremony, Principal IMFA Dr. Ruby Zutshi and Dean School of Arts, Languages, and Literature Prof Adil Amin Kak honoured the visiting guests and expressed gratitude for calibrating the students on various dimensions of publication design.
Nusrat Fayaz, a fine art student, stated that the workshop was eye-opening for them because they were familiarized with new dimensions of designing, however, she emphasized that their department should look beyond these brief workshops and take up the programmes that have been long pending, referring to the start of Masters Course at KU.
"The three-day workshop was eye-opening for all of us, and we gained a good understanding of designing parameters. The workshop broadened our visualization of designing spectrum modules," she stated.
Another Applied Art student, Aysha Jahangir, told Rising Kashmir that the workshop was a first of its kind because they were calibrated on various Typography sequences.
"It was a completely new experience for me to attend the workshop. The three-day programme took me through learnings I had never experienced before, and the calibration on Typography was something new for me, and certainly an addition to my knowledge bank," she said.

Pertinent to note that Jain Kamal, also known as Asia's first publication designer, was enlisted by IMFA to provide young students with specialized training in publication design and typography during the three-day seminar from October 18–20, 2022.

Jain Kamal, who spoke with Rising Kashmir, said the event was the first of its kind in Asia which covered a variety of topics, from choosing fonts for advertisements to journalism.

The three-day event, according to him, "displayed a variety of designing skills from a selection of images, photos, or fonts for the newspapers or magazines."
Earlier, Vice-Chancellor Kashmir University Prof Nilofer Khan had inaugurated the three-day workshop on ‘Publication Design and Typography’ at KU’s Institute of Music and Fine Arts (IMFA).
Prof Nilofer Khan in her earlier address emphasized the importance of engaging students in more and more interactive sessions through various training, seminars/workshop programmes.
The IMFA officials on the concluding ceremony also thanked their sponsors Gayoor Art Foundation, CP Advertisers, and Infinity Pizzas for providing support throughout the three-day seminar.
