Two drug peddlers held in South Kashmir

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested two drug peddlers in South Kashmir's Shopian district and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

 

A Police Spokesperson said that a police party from Police Post Wachi at a checkpoint established at Arwani Melhora road near Nadkadal intercepted a vehicle (Ertiga) bearing registration No. PB 01C-4543 with three persons on board who tried to flee from the spot but two accused persons were arrested on spot however, one of the accused person managed to flee from the spot. During search, 41 grams of Brown Sugar like substance was recovered from the said vehicle. 

 

"During questioning, the arrested persons disclosed their identity as Gulzar Ahmad Dar son of Mohd Akbar Dar resident of Nasrullah Pora Budgam and Faizan Yaseen Dar son of Mohd Yaseen Dar resident of Nawab Bazar Srinagar A/P Tarhama Kunzar. They also disclosed the name of escaped person as Nadeem Ahmad Mir son of Ab Hameed Mir resident of Melhura and efforts are on to nab the accused", he said.

 

The spokesperson said that accordingly case FIR No. 06/2023 under relevant sections of law stands registered at PS Zainapora and investigation has been initiated.
