Urs of Sheikh Noor-ud-Din (RA) celebrated at Charar-i-Sharief in Budgam

Budgam, Oct 13: The annual Urs of Hazrat Sheikh Noor-uddin Wali (RA), also known as Nund Reshi, was celebrated on Friday in the Charar-i-Sharief area in Central Kashmir's Budgam district.
 
The Urs witnessed a significant gathering of devotees, including men, women, and children, who visited the shrine at Charar-i-Sharief to participate in the congregational Friday prayers and pay their respects.
 
Devotees also gathered at the shrine on Thursday for congregational long night prayers. Special prayers were offered for the peace and prosperity of the Kashmir valley.
 
Vendors set up stalls where they sold various food items and traditional goods, which devotees purchased.
 
Shakeela Bano, a devotee from the Pulwama district, said that she has been attending the annual urs of Hazrat Sheikh Noor-uddin Wali (RA) for the past ten years, as she had never missed it previously.
 
"The annual urs of Hazrat Sheikh Noor-uddin Wali (RA) holds great significance in the history of the Kashmir valley. People from various parts of India come to learn about his lifestyle and wish to incorporate it into their own lives. Sheikh Noor-uddin Wali (RA) is a Sufi saint in the Kashmir valley who spread Islam and composed poetry in the Kashmiri language, known as 'Kalam Sheikh Ul Alam'," she said.
 
The special arrangements were also placed for the devotees which includes medical facilities, designated parking areas, wheelchairs for disabled devotees and other necessary facilities.
 
The Budgam police, along with the traffic police, were deployed on the roads to ensure smooth traffic flow during the Annual Urs of Hazrat Sheikh Noor-ud-Noorani (RA).
 
The Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, Darakhshan Anrabi, and officials from the district administration of Budgam, have also paid a visit to the shrine and inspected all the arrangements that were specifically made for the devotees.
 
While talking with the  reporters, Darakhshan Andrabi emphasized the significance of the Ziyarat Shareef of Sheikh Noor-uddin Wali in the global context. It is evident that people from all around the world are interested in learning about the lifestyle, poetry, and other knowledge related to Nundi Reshi, which should be disseminated worldwide.
 
"It is our responsibility to spread the knowledge of Nundi Reshi, which he has bestowed upon us, as people come here for prayers. We are also committed to developing all the shrines that fall under the jurisdiction of the Waqf Board in Jammu and Kashmir." she said.
