Winter tourism surges in Doodhpathri, Budgam
Witnesses over 39,000 visitors in two months

BUDGAM, Mar 17: Over the past two months, Doodhpathri, a renowned tourist destination in Central Kashmir's Budgam district, has witnessed a substantial increase in the number of visitors during the winter season, totaling 39,108.
Official data from the Doodhpathri Development Authority, as reported by Rising Kashmir, indicates that in January 2024 alone, 22,570 tourists explored Doodhpathri. However, in February 2024, the number slightly decreased to 16,538, with 86 foreign tourists among them.
From 2023 to 2024, Doodhpathri received a total of 2,812,703 visitors. In comparison, from January to December 2022, the area welcomed 843,559 tourists, consisting of 316 foreign tourists, 179,891 domestic tourists, and 663,152 locals.
January 2023 saw 11,041 visitors, indicating a remarkable increase in January 2024's footfall to 22,570.
NargisSuraya, Executive Officer of the Doodhpathri Development Authority, expressed satisfaction with the rise in winter tourism. She highlighted the significance of foreign tourists choosing Doodhpathri during this season, benefiting numerous families and individuals reliant on tourism for their livelihoods.
Suraya emphasized the growing popularity of activities such as skiing, pony riding, and ATV riding, which have contributed to Doodhpathri's appeal during the winter months, attracting visitors with its natural beauty.
